The new collective agreement applies to UNH Lecturers United-AAUP until June 30, 2022. Teachers have worked without a contract in recent years. Portland State University`s AAUP chapter reached a contractual agreement in April, after voting overwhelmingly in March to authorize a strike. As the strike approached, the bargaining teams entered a marathon twenty-four-hour mediation session that ended with an agreement. The Portland State University faculty voted overwhelmingly in favor of allowing a strike in the absence of an agreement with the school administration on a new contract. A strike date has not been set. After a year and a half of contract negotiations — sixty negotiations with little progress — the University of Illinois at Chicago faculty union began a two-day strike in February. Members of the UIC United Faculty, which represents tenure and non-tenure track faculties in separate units associated with the AAUP, the American Federation of Teachers and the Illinois Federation of Teachers, demonstrated during the campus strike with other union supporters. This was the question of salary, especially for uns stamped faculties. “Bargaining teams have been working for many months on an agreement on a number of important issues, and this agreement allows us all to focus where it needs to be, on our students and their continued academic success in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Catherine Moran, union negotiator, and John Wallin. The university`s negotiator, said in a joint statement Thursday afternoon. “We believe this is a fair settlement and look forward to further cooperation.” At the beginning of March, the parties agreed on the details of the contract.
The executive committee of the New Hampshire University System Board of Trustees and the union formally ratified the agreement last week, the statement said. Moran and Wallin continued in their press release: “The new leave policy ensures continuity for both teachers and their students if they don`t need to be in the classroom. In addition, the agreement makes the evaluation and doctoral process more transparent and efficient. After more than a year of negotiation-focused negotiations, members of the University of Cincinnati`s AAUP Chapter voted overwhelmingly on March 9 to ratify a new three-year treaty.
